With 25 trails and five lifts covering 130 acres, Mt. Brighton Ski Area is a family favorite - especially for beginning and intermediate skiers. As winter begins to fade away, take one more trip to the slopes in March. The operation has been converting first-timers into lifelong skiers and riders since 1960, but was recently purchased by Vail Resorts, Colorado, and was totally remodeled. It offers not only skiing, but snowboarding and a challenging 18-hole golf course. Grab a bite to eat at the restaurant on site. Events are offered throughout the year, but March boasts the 35th Annual Mt. Brighton Slush Cup on March 11 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. featuring live music courtesy of Bud Light, Quality Air competition, Boxzilla competition and their annual Slush Cup pond skim (weather permitting.)

Visit Brewery Becker - Brighton’s Hidden Gem

There’s no doubt the microbrewery industry has exploded across the country. But you may not have taken time to visit Brighton’s own brewery. Taste Brewery Becker’s extensive menu of fine artisanal Ales in their completely renovated historic building (circa 1873) made right on site. They have a limited menu to enjoy and when the weather is nice, there is a beautiful outdoor Biergarten. Events you can enjoy in March include Open Mic Night every Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Tuesday yoga classes on the second floor from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Books & Brews book discussions on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The place also has space for parties and company events. Cozy, warm, great atmosphere, and great beer.

Walk The Trails At Island Lake State Recreation Area

As spring begins to make its way into Brighton, get out of the house and enjoy the sunny, warm days with a walk around one of the three Island Lake trails. Island Lake Recreation Area is a 4,000-acre park that offers an "up north" experience without leaving southeast Michigan. The park has great canoeing, volleyball courts, picnic shelters, swimming and cabins to rent. Tails include:
